This app is simply fantastic for learners of French, pretty much eliminating paper dictionaries for 99.9% of word look-up situations. Its strengths are (1) comprehensive word coverage (almost never do I encounter an unlisted word); (2) extensive examples of how each word is used in practice (critical to understand context); (3) complete verb conjugations; and perhaps most important: (4) the spoken recordings of the words and the examples. The recordings are really the heart of the product, as French pronunciation rules are confusing and difficult for us Anglophones to master. I was recently in Paris, and found the spoken recordings godsend to reduce the number of blank stares i usually get when trying to work out pronunciation of an unfamiliar word from the printed page.
Like other commentators, i have experienced some balkiness. The "autofill" feature in the search bar sometimes dies when i try to search for a reflexive verb (s+infinitive), requiring a compete reboot of the phone (i have an iPhone 5c) to restart it (The dictionary wont work without it). I also experienced complete shut-down of the sound recordings. This was fixed by (1) removing 1000+ pictures from my phone; and (2) re-installing the App. Its possible (1) alone would have done the trick. In any event, its back in operation now so Im happy.
Overall, i love this app!
